Mehdi Ghissassi, Director of Product Management @Google, explains how Product is organized at Google in relation to the growing importance of LLMs (Large Language Models) and generative AI, including the emergence of new roles such as PM Research and PM Ethics.
The main key learnings:
- Start with the user need. Remember that technologies and algorithms are only the means to address user problems.
- PM Research and PM Product must work in symbiosis. Don't lose sight of the fact that PM Research and PM Product must keep abreast of each other's advances and needs, to find the best possible match between technology and user requirements.
- Have an ethical PM. Don't underestimate the need for an Ethical PM to ensure the relevance of results and to combat misinformation, discrimination and misuse.
